Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that can cause problems such as pain on passing urine, urethral discharge, abnormal vaginal discharge. 70% of women and 50% of men do not show any sypmtoms. Untreated infections can go on to cause pelvic pains, ectopic pregnancies, fertility problems and testicular problems. All men and women under 25 and who are sexually active are invited to take part in the National Chlamydia Screening Programme.
Remember, if used correctly, only condoms can give you protection from sexually transmitted infections and HIV as well as unplanned pregnancies.
